350TH SOCIETY IS COMPLETE

It's official: The membership rolls of the 350th Society are closed.

"We're done!" exulted Carolyn Snyder, the society's chairwoman, on Monday. At the "final hour," she said, she had two people vying for the honor of occupying the last slot.

It took just seven months to find 350 people willing to contribute $350 apiece to join the group and support East Hampton Town's 350th anniversary celebration. Each member will receive a signed, numbered copy of the official history of the town, a coffee-table-size volume, and various other perks.

Copy number 350, said Ms. Snyder, is to be donated to the East Hampton Library's Long Island Collection, which will also be the beneficiary of any funds left over when the anniversary year concludes.
