SOCIETY NEAR 300 MARK

The numbers of the 350th Society, whose members have contributed $350 to support the events marking East Hampton's tricentquinquagenary year, have grown to 292, its chairwoman, Carolyn Snyder, reported this week.

The society projected a constituency of no more than 350 when it was established last December. With just 58 places open, Ms. Snyder is hoping to close the roll of the elect by July 4, if not sooner.

The privileges of membership include admission for two to all the anniversary lectures, which run throughout the year; listing in the lecture series program and end-of-the-year coffee-table-size anthology; copies of the souvenir calendar and commemorative map, and more.

Membership applications may be found at 350th anniversary headquarters in the East Hampton train station, at the Round Swamp Farm on Three Mile Harbor Road, East Hampton, or in several other places around town.

They also will be available at Quentin Snediker's Amistad lecture on Saturday, at 4 p.m. at the Montauk School.
