Film Festival Has New Director
The Hamptons International Film Festival has a new director, the sixth in its six-year history. She is Denise Kasell, who has logged 20 years in the business, since 1995 as executive and artistic director of the Hudson Valley, N.Y., Film Festival, a nine-day annual event, and the Hudson Valley Film and Video Office.

MORGAN RANK: Dealer In Primitive Art
Morgan Rank, who has been exhibiting American primitive art at the Newtown Lane gallery that bears his name for about 20 years, is devoted to what he does for a living. Among the artists he has shown are plenty of plain people who probably have never heard of Matthew Barney or April Gornik, but whose work has a freshness that comes as a relief to gallerygoers.

Littoral Drift
Upon reading the April issue of the Robb Report (the magazine for people who have been driven mad by excessive money), I have decided against becoming filthy rich. It's not that I would mind having a few more bucks in the bank, but, as the Robb Report clearly demonstrates, once you've reached absurd levels of wealth, there's only so much more that money can buy.
