1849 HISTORY IS REPRINTED
Henry Onderdonk Jr.'s "Revolutionary Incidents of Suffolk and Kings Counties," first published in 1849 and long out of print, has been reprinted by a Massachusetts publisher.

ROUND SWAMP FARM: A FAMILY AFFAIR
Carolyn Snyder, a seventh-generation member of the Round Swamp Lester family (and the sister of Dianna Lester Catozzi, who writes about the family this week elsewhere on this page), lives in the circa-1740 Lester homestead at Round Swamp Farm on Three Mile Harbor Road, which was built of lumber probably brought from Gardiner's Island.

THE TASTE OF HISTORY
A hard toast, zwieback was popular among mothers of war babies as a means of soothing their teething toddlers. But it also was popular as the basis for pie crust, as the Ladies Village Improvement Society cooks suggested in their 1939 cookbook.
