Nature Notes The weather last week was a smattering of everything, a smorgasbord of climactic events, sunshine, frost, gales, torrential rain, and snow, all within the space of five days, a potpourri prelude to spring. CREATURE FEATURE: Why Cats Purrrrrrrr The princess, in order to save herself from lifelong imprisonment and her prince from death, had to perform a task. Alas, as is the case in these situations, the task was an impossible one. Her evil captors had given her hundreds of bags of linen flax to spin into 10,000 skeins of thread within 30 days. Surely, she would die of exhaustion during the attempt.
