Nature Notes The writer recently ran into Tom Plant, just back from the west coast of Mexico where he was part of a team of researchers studying the local populations of wild members of the cat family, Felidae. Looking For The Perfect Dog Approximately 11 1/2 million dogs are euthanized annually in the United States because of behavioral problems. While some of these dogs do have very severe mental problems that make them dangerous and thus impossible to live with, many others are victims of ignorance, impatience, and unrealistic expectations.
