When the weather is fine, you can take your grilled steak taco or your sopes (little hand-pressed corn boats filled with beans, avocado, sour cream, and lettuce or with chicken and other goodies to eat at outdoor tables. La Fondita is Mexican, the food is light and fresh, from tostadas and burritos, and there are six different tacos, aguas frescas (soft drinks in flavors like watermelon and tamarind), and horchata, a traditional drink made from rice and almonds. Corn tortillas are made fresh daily. New on the menu in is a fried-cod burrito with chipotle mayonnaise and chayote squash in salsa verde. There are tortas of steak or spicy pork sausage, as well as grilled steak, chicken, or chile-rubbed pork platters. The most expensive choice on the menu is $14.50.
