Almond has settled into the charming building at the corner of Ocean Road, to which it moved last year, and its following has grown. Jason Weiner, the co-owner and executive chef, has now brought in a chef de cuisine, Juan Carlos Landazuri, with broad Manhattan experience. The wine list is mainly French, to match a menu that includes escargots, red wine-braised short ribs, and steak frites, but dishes are far from routine. Macaroni and cheese? It comes with proscuitto and truffles. Hash for brunch? It’s made with duck confit. There’s a “plat du jour” daily. Almond also has a New York branch, on East 22nd Street.
