Southampton Village Makes Evacuation Call

     The Village of Southampton has called for the voluntary evacuation of all of Meadow Lane and anticipates issuing a mandatory evacuation order Saturday morning.

     Meadow Lane runs the length of a narrow barrier beach between the Atlantic Ocean and Shinnecock Bay, making the houses and bathing clubs there extremely vulnerable in the event of a storm surge.

    In addition, the village will close its ocean beaches at 2 p.m. Friday.
