Ruth E. Intermaggio, who had worked for the optometrist Dr. Alan York in East Hampton, died on March 27 at the Sunset Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center in Venice, Fla., after a six-month illness. She was 82 and had lived in Wainscott for 44 years.
Mrs. Intermaggio was born in the South Ozone Park neighborhood of Queens on Nov. 20, 1929, to Lawrence William Hoefling and the former Myrtle Dorothy Watts. She grew up and graduated in 1947 from John Adams High School there. The following year, she took a job at CBS Broadcasting in New York City, where she worked until 1956. She and Joseph Intermaggio Jr., from whom she was divorced, had married in 1954.
Mrs. Intermaggio moved to Foxcroft Lane in Wainscott in 1956 and was a member of the Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church. She worked for Dr. York From 1974 to 1985.
